MEET BADER
YOUR EYES AT 300 METERS

A light-class, 8-thruster ROV built for the work that doesn't happen on the surface — survey, inspection, recovery, and research, all the way down to 300m.

Why Bader

PWR

Heavy Thruster Configuration

8x vectored T200 thrusters give Bader rock-solid stability and full 6-DOF control — it holds position in current that would push lighter ROVs around.

NAV

Dual Sonar, One Vehicle

Ping360 wide-area scanning sonar and the Cerulean OmniScan 450 FS high-resolution imaging sonar — pick the right eyes for the job.

VIS

See It, Keep It

Live 1080p HD for piloting and real-time review, plus a 4K Panasonic archival camera for documentation-grade footage.

LOC

WaterLinked DVL

Doppler velocity logging gives Bader true terrain-relative navigation — it knows exactly how it's moving over the bottom.

AUTO

Hands-Off Survey Modes

Depth hold, altitude hold, heading hold, and automatic waypoint-following survey lines, run through ArduSub.

ARM

Manipulator Arm

Single-function manipulator for sample collection, object retrieval, and interaction with subsea structures.

Payload Suite

WaterLinked DVL Navigation

50 m range. Precise velocity and altitude over the seafloor, feeding the autopilot for automatic survey lines, dynamic positioning, and terrain-relative tracking.

Ping360 Scanning Sonar Wide Area

360° / 50 m / 750 kHz. 2° horizontal, 25° vertical beam — full-circle situational awareness for navigating in low-visibility water, finding wrecks, pilings, and obstacles.

Cerulean OmniScan 450 FS Imaging

120 m range, 50° vertical beamwidth. Forward-facing imaging sonar built for spotting and homing in on seafloor targets — where Ping360 finds the area of interest, OmniScan 450 FS resolves the detail for classification, structure inspection, and search work. Mounts directly to the BlueROV2 frame; can be paired with a second unit for 2D motion tracking in SonarView.

Camera System HD + 4K

Live 1080p for piloting and real-time monitoring, 4K Panasonic for archival-quality documentation of every dive.

LED Lighting Array 4x

Four high-power dimmable LEDs cut through dark and turbid water, tuned for both piloting visibility and clean video/still capture.

Manipulator Arm Tooling

Single-function electric manipulator for object retrieval, sample collection, and light interaction with underwater structures — runs through Bader's main control loop.

Outland Topside Control Box Power

Surface-side power management and comms for continuous, extended operations — built for full work days on the water.

ArduSub Autopilot Software

Open-source, customizable, and field-proven. The backbone for every autonomy mode below.

04

Autonomy Modes

Depth Hold

Locks vertical position — no thruster-juggling to stay level.

Altitude Hold

DVL-driven constant height above bottom for even survey passes.

Heading Hold

Holds a compass course while you focus on the mission.

Automatic Survey

Programmed lawnmower-pattern survey runs, hands-off.

Waypoint Following

Plot points, Bader navigates between them autonomously.

Station Keeping

Dynamic positioning holds Bader steady for sampling or filming.

05

Mission Profile

Stack it together: Bader drops to depth, holds altitude on the DVL, runs an automatic survey grid while the Ping360 scans wide for anomalies, then the OmniScan 450 FS reaches out 120 m ahead and 50° tall to lock onto anything interesting — all recorded in 4K, with the manipulator standing by if something needs to come home with you.

Projects and Performance That Got Us Here

OceanRobotCam

As the lead inventor of the world famous SharkCam and TurtleCam robots, dubbed OceanRobotCam by Amy, this technology inspired our path to highly visual and impactful ocean observations as seen on Discovery Channel and National Geographic. New generations of ORC will teach us more about the world's most enigmatic creatures.
Amy was featured on Shark Week and National Geographic over a decade with hits like Return of Jaws, Jaws Strikes Back, Shark Trek, Jaws of the Deep, SharkCam Stakeout, SharkCam Strikes Back and Sharkfest, Planet Shark.
However, our favorite and beloved Turtlecam, was not just a piece of tech, but a program developed by Amy in her spare time and a collaboration with Dr. Kara Dodge at NEAQ to teach the world about the importance of sea turtles. That mission carries on with Scibotics.

Climate Studies

Climate Change challenges mankind and innovation is key to learning how to prevent irreversible impacts. Key innovation, founded by Scibotics lead Amy while at WHOI, highlights what is needed for averting crises whether the topic be oil spills, invasive species monitoring, or melting glaciers. From novel sensor development like water samplers, holographic imaging of plankton and oil droplets to new automany behaviors for ‘reacting’ to anomalies in the environment and collecting key data when needed, Scibotics holds the keys to ocean discovery.

Exploration

Whether it be re-discovering the lost 8th Wonder of the World, the Pink and White Terraces, locating lost shipwrecks, sniffing out leaks in WWII wrecks, or mapping out scallop beds and aquaculture sites, Scibotics has the expertise and know-with-all to do it all. Give us a call today.
